GPA Calculator

Report card season? Add each course with its grade and credit hours, and the penguin works out your GPA on the standard 4.0 scale โ€” weighted by credits, like your school does it.

Add your courses above โ€” your GPA appears here.

    How to use

    1. Add a course. Pick the letter grade, enter the credit hours, and optionally name the course.
    2. Keep adding. Every course appears in the list below with its grade points โ€” remove any with the โœ• button if you mistype.
    3. Read your GPA. It's the credit-weighted average on the standard 4.0 scale, updated with every course you add.

    Frequently asked questions

    How is GPA calculated?

Each grade converts to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on, with plus/minus steps), multiplied by the course's credit hours. Add up all the grade points, divide by total credit hours, and that's your GPA โ€” a credit-weighted average, exactly how schools compute it.

What is the 4.0 GPA scale?

    The standard unweighted scale: A+/A = 4.0, Aโˆ’ = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, Bโˆ’ = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, Cโˆ’ = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, Dโˆ’ = 0.7, F = 0.0. This calculator uses that scale โ€” if your school uses weighted GPAs (AP/honors bumps) or a different scale, adjust accordingly.

    Do credit hours really matter?

Yes โ€” a lot. A 4-credit course counts twice as much as a 2-credit course in the average. That's why this calculator asks for credits per course instead of treating every class equally.

Can I calculate my cumulative GPA across semesters?

You can. Just add every course from every semester into the list โ€” the math is the same whether it's one term or four years. For a quick estimate, some students add one entry per semester using that semester's GPA as the "grade" and its total credits as the hours.

Is my grade data sent anywhere?

No. Courses live only in the list on this page โ€” nothing is uploaded, stored, or tracked. Your transcript stays yours.
